Default Wiring Questions Eg With B18c

Ok...So I have been searching around on here and various other sites for some answers. I am a dsm person myself but tring to help a good friend.

He has a 1992-4 civic si h/b with a b18c running a pr3 ecu. he has two codes... 7 and 23... tps and knock sensor. I know whats wrong with his tps but not the knock sensor.

He bought the car from a guy who did the swap himself, so he doesnt know whats going on with the wiring either. I know a little about hondas, but not when it comes to this stuff.

I am pretty sure he has the stock d16 harness. The other thing is how can I find out weither the pr3 is obd 0 or obd 1? And which one do I want? i assume I want obd 0? And which distributor do I need? How can I tell which one is already on there?

Can a p72 plug right into a factory harness? I know thats the one I need in order for my secondary runners/butterflies to function. But I was hoping to atleast get the car running deciently using the pr3. Is that possible? I think right now it is just in limp mode.

Sorry I am throwing random statements in here but I have so many questions. I have been out of the game for a while, just tring to refresh my memory.

ANY HELP AT ALL IS GREAAAATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!

PR3 : 89-91 JDM B16A EF8/9 (http://www.hondata.com/techecuid.html)

The P72 is the ECU that was made for the B18C1. Get an OBD1 P72. It will plug directly into the stock ECU harness of the '92-'95 Civic.

Checkout www.hondaswap.com and www.hybridgarage.com.

OK...thanks alot!

Another quick question...Since he has a japanese b18c, would he have a knock sensor? only if someone else installed one right?

How could I get around that? Now even if I get the p72, it wont be getting a signal from the knock sensor? Should I get a jspec p72? Chip the usdm p72 so it wont need one, or I guess the logical thing to do is to install a knock sensor and wire it to the ecu, right?

Once again...Thanks for all the help!

Why would the JDM motor not have a knock sensor? I'm no expert on JDM motors, but I don't see why it wouldn't have one and I've never heard that...

Thanks for the info!

one more thing...What year did the civic chasis go from obd 0 to obd 1? This car is a 1992.

Also, Should I shoot for a jdm p72 since the compression is different and there would probably be different maps compared to the usdm p72...right?

< 1991 = OBD0
1992-1995 = OBD1
1996+ = OBD2 (a/b depending on year)

USDM/JDM is up to you. USDM will be much easier to find and will work fine.

ok...one more question...more like confirmation.

I ordered a usdm p72. Everybody on ebay claims to have a jdm p72 but all of them are usdm. Liars! Anyways, when I switch pins A20 to A17 for the IAB, do I need to put anything in place of A20 for the evap purge control solenoid? Or am I just spliceing into A20 and running a feed to A17? Sorry...I know I sound like a dumbass, just want to make sure I get this all right! I GREATLY APPRECIATE all the help!!!!!!

Ok...only one more question I really cant seem to find an answer to. What do I due for the Evap Purge Solenoid. Where do I need to run it to? Everyone says to SWITCH A17 to A20...well then you would have just switched the IAB with the Evap inputs. I know I have to splice into the IAB Solenoid and run that into A17 but what am I doing with this EVAP wire? Where can I find it and what do I do with it?

If you're using an OBD1 ECU, don't worry about it. You can take that sensor off completely.
