Default big problem

i just got a 90 integra GS, and it needs lots of work. so i first want to get it running right, the main problem it seems to be having is the idle is rough, and it's not getting enough spark. so if you rev the car up, it sputters and skips, then floods. sumone told me i need a new module so it can give correct spark, you can also smell in the exhaust that the car is running very rich, and sumone told me that the therostat isnt working right so, it's getting too much fuel.

does this stuff sound right ? anything you guys can tell me to do for this car?

thanks in advance

how long did you run the car? if you ran her long into closed loop i'd be thinking along the lines of an o2 sensor, tps sensor, map sensor..or some other sensor. how long has the car been sitting?

if you ran her for a short period i'd be thinking the injectors. i'd swap in some from another honda and you'll quickly see if thats the problem. if the fuel pours out or trickles it will not spark and you'll get the fouling and flooding. check the spark, compression, leakdown, etc. a bent valve could create and nice stumbling idle too.

thermostat?...not really.

i just got the car, so i have no idea what happened to it. also for sum reason, i found that the harness to the fan on the radiator was unplugged, and whoever had the car before ran a wire to it that would turn it on with the ignition. and if i re-plug the harness the ran just runs all the time. the gauge cluster is plugged in but doesnt work.... well it will flash wit the hazards but that's it.

could an ecu going bad do any of this ?

Fan relay is toast, which is why it runs all the time.

As for your "spark issue." Start with the basics; cap/rotor, wires, plugs and then ICM if needed before going into injector and sensor swapping.
