Engine Assembly From SCRATCH. Sohc, Pics, Links, Guides??
Hey guys, I havent been on in a long long timemainly because I thought I was done with Hondas after my first was stolen. But now Ive got basically a complete build up here in my basement, bare block, vitara pistons, eagle rods, fully built assembled head. And best off all, a nice custom turbo kit and everything that goes with it.
But what I really need help with, is how to assemble the engine and all its little nick nacks to get it ready to drop in. You know like water pump, setting the timing and all the un stuff, basically starting form scratch.... Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Ive looked all weekend and figured someone might have. Hope to stay here a long time now that Im back in the game Hope someone can help Thanks |
Few tools you may want to consider,
Dial bore guage, plenty of plastiguage, digital mic set, feeler guages, torque wrenches, assembly lube, straight edge, socket wrenches. Helms manual is very usefull. The helms should outline the process for you pretty well. |
Ive got general wrenches/sockets, feeler gauges, 1/2" torque wrench
And best of all, the internet I completely forgot to mention this is a D16A6 |

Your going to need more than a 1/2" torque wrench, get a 3/8" & 1/4" as well for in/lb torquing. Also check the sticky by WestCoastStyle in the Civic/Sol/EL forum, it has links to service manuals and helms too i think...

thats Sonny link helped HUGE, but he skips so darn much. If I could just find one about the coolant passages and installing the water line on the back of the block, oil pump, water pump, thrustt washers etc etc
Need a solid online manual |
Just finished notching my block, bearings should probably be there today if I catch the UPS guy after work
