smoking-oil in cat?
ok, i have this problem with excessive blue smoke when accelerating. i just replaced the turbo because the old one was leaking oil into the turbine side and there was oil in my exhaust. my question is: could the oil from the old turbo have clogged the catalytic converter so much that it blows heavy smoke when accelerating? i just got it running again today and i let the car idle for a total of probably a half hour and drove around for about 10 minutes, hoping it would burn off and stop, but it didn't. the smoke looks white at idle, and blue when accelerating. any thoughts on this?

Drive it around a bit, you may need to burn off the excessive oil left in your exhaust if the leak was bad enough.
i think the problem with the last turbo was my oil drain line, because it did have a small kink. i made sure to use stainless braided hose this time so there are no kinks. i am really hoping that it just needs to burn off the oil in the exhaust, but it seems like too much smoke to be that. thanks for the suggestion, though.
i have a 90 degree elbow out of the turbo because my crossmember was in the way and that's the only way i could do it. then there's a gradual curve to the oil pan, but it's all downward. i just went out for another drive and let it get hotter this time and now the smoke smells like burning oil, so i'm guessing it's just the oil leftover in the exhaust...hopefully.
not sure exactly, but it's from www.cheapturbolines.com and my last oil line probably had worse flow and i didn't have this problem, not to say you're wrong, though.
