My motor will knock at all RPMs and gets louder as I rev higher. Are the valves out of adjustment and tapping the pistons ? Or could it be something less serious?

 

My motor will knock at all RPMs and get louder as engine speed increases. Not sure if valves are out of adjustment or what. Could it be somthing more serious or just valve tap, this problem has been going on for 4 mos. and has not gotten any worse over that time. any info would help @ this point.

Get a valve adjustment firstly. They are easy enough to do yourself. Then if that doesn't fix it, it may be an issue with detonation. Retard the ignition timing a bit and see if that helps.

 

Get the valves adjusted. It is simple enough to do yourself. It couldn't hurt to be certain that your valve lash is within spec.
