question on heads???!!!

I have a 97 prelude with the h22a ok! I need to know two things:
1 does the "VTEC" or "I-VTEC" only have to do with tuning, cam, and type of head???? Or is there some internal diff as well?? And 2 If VTEC is only part of the tuning, cams, and head would there possibly be a NON VTEC head that will fit the H22a without any mod problems like cuting anything?

There is no existing i-VTEC head that would fit an H22A. There never will be, either.

Sorry i stated the question wrong i need to know if there is a non vtec head that fits the h22

You can modify an H23 head to work, but why? You'd lose a lot of horsepower and lower your redline.

Without Vtec i can make alot more power in the end without breaking engine parts!!!! The Vtec motors have too many moving parts in it. And as you and i both know the more mving parts the more that can break under high stress. What mods will have to be done do you know??? Cause if it'll fit id port and polish it first get a mildly agressive cam to keep low end powerfull enough to get me going then throw on a turbo to compinsate for the loss on top!! Plus with the crank and pistons still being able to handle the RPM i can get close to about 7000RPM without too much of a problem

The problem is in the head. VTEC heads are not that much more complicated, however they are much stronger then their non-VTEC counterparts. I know what you're trying to say, but Honda heads don't work like that.

gotcha so id be better off with the h22 how it is then go from there!!?? Also is there an engine that will fit in there without moding fender wells and the motor mounts??? That isnt VTEC of course??

Honestly, with a Prelude a h22 is your best choice. An Accord V6 is theoretically possible but you'd be looking at a lot of fab work.

If you are really insistant on removing VTEC you can eliminate it instead of swapping heads. The nonVTEC heads flow like crap, frankly. However, even on high horsepower setups the head is the least of your worries.

VTEC is unneccessary on a vehicle purpose built for racing. However, its elimination is typically done to minimize mass, not due to breakages.
