Question bout flywheels that's been buggin me
 

I'm posting this here even though it's really about my friend's 98 EK cuz I feel that's it's more of a general question. Here goes, can you or can you not use a light weight flywheel on a auto tranny? I see all the ppl with manual trannies using light weight flywheels but never heard it as a mod on those with auto trannies. Don't auto trannies have flywheels too? Yes, this is probably a very dumb question but I want to know. And if it's possible, how come there are no auto tranny users who pick up this mod? TIA

auto tranny's do not have flywheels.. they have a flexplate instead.. but the flexplate is already light and not for engine dampening so there is not reason to replace it

If they were being manufactured, I suppose you might be able use a lightweight Torque Converter. Same idea... But I don't think anyone is making them... Yet...

You won't find any lightweight torque converters because they're typically already as light as can be while still being reliable. A torque converter is a very simplistic fluid pump that acts as a fluid coupling, and there are quite a lot of internal forces on the pump fins as it is. Usually for autos you'll find stronger convertors [so they don't break], but not lighter ones.

Cars with modular clutches also have flex plates, ex: my car.
