What's better? I'm a n00b at these stuff
 

Please give me some advice to what's better considering: total cost, quality parts, stability, durability. Also, I've seen some really knowledgable people in here, such as MrFatbooty, qtiger, etc. Please help me as to also the list of parts and things to do with the option that you think is the best.


H22 + Turbo
H23 + Turbo
F22b1 (SOHC VTEC) + turbo

Goal: High 12s once a while. 13s daily.

H22. Hands down.


Sturdiest from the factory, most parts availability, and VTEC on both cams. Of course, it's also the most expensive of the three.

h23 turbos have gobs of torque and can handle boost too...h22a has a much stronger top end

:thinking: i am drawing a blank, is the h23 closed deck like the h22a? If it is and you could find a h23a, boost that bish.

I'm sure there are plenty of H23's lying around from all the folks with non-VTEC 4th gen Preludes that have done H22 swaps.

Anyway this question is too general...as always you need to include about how much money you want to spend and whether you're going to do the work or pay a shop to do it.

I'm sorry that forgot to mention, the budget is 10,000 including labor. That's too little huh??

i thought the older h22as were closed deck and the newer ones were open deck

High 12's could be done with a JDM H22 all motor. 13's could be in reach easily. All for way under $10,000.00. Buy a JDM H22 and slap a 100 shot on it and Bamm! This is in an Accord right?

I'd say high 12's in an Accord with an all motor H22 would be a bit of a stretch. It doesn't really matter where the engine was originally sold. Nightshade, who is a mod of the Basement, has/had a built H22 in his Accord and was running high 13s on street tires.

For 10 grand you most likely should be able to afford an H22 swap and a turbo, along with the requisite fuel things like a Hondata and some injectors. That's a pretty healthy budget you got there.

Yea, I noticed that too. Could you please go a lil bit more into detail about what I need to have/to do? And I'd like to save as much as I can. 7500 is the real budget, but then I somehow figure that's not gonna be enough. And I'm hopping that I'm wrong :)
