Default Engine help

Hi, I have a 1991 Civic SI but the person that had it before me put a v-tech engine in the car...I had trouble with it a few months ago and my friend that works on cars got it running by disableing the v-tech...now the car is jumping really bad...any solutions?

Disabling VTEC should have no effect on the running of the car unless it was wired to always be on (bad idea!)

It sounds like someone royally screwed up the wiring on that swap. Is the check engine light on? If so, what codes is the ECU showing? What ECU is running the car, and how is the VTEC activated?
