Default something wrong please help!

i have a 96 gsr in a 94 civic hatch. everything is obd1. I bought a new alternator from autozone and changed the battery too. now my car keeps dying like it has no juice to start. is it the alternator. when i turn on my stereo deck it keeps dying like its running off my battery. i checked alll my grounds. i drove it around the block and i died. so i had to jump start it to get it back in the driveway. what should i do? any thing will help.
