Can my 00 GSR beat an 06 G35?
Help,
I have a '00 teg GSR - all stock - 5 speed manual, 170 hp at 7600 rpm, 1.8L, 16 valve, 4 cylinder VTEC, weighs 2672 lbs, 15 inch wheels and crappy ass tires.
I loved to brag to my best buddy how much faster my car was than his '97 3000GT (plain one with 165 hp and it weighed about eight zillion tons). I dusted him all the time even with his big 'ol V6. Nice looking car but mine much was faster.
Well he just bought a 06 infinity g35 coupe - 6-speed manual transmission,
3.5L dohc, 24 valve V6, 298 horsepower at 6,400 RPM, weighs 3449 lbs, with monster 18 inch wheels and great tires.
What can I do to my car to beat him? I know i need new tires but what else? He drives like an old lady and I drive like richard petty - so he can't take full advantage of the 6 speed, but that will only take me so far. Of course my teg is front wheel drive and his g35 is rear wheel drive. Can i make my car faster than his without spending 10 grand or putting nitrous in it?
Its a matter of pride.

seriously though, nitrous might be able to help you out there :edit:
yeah, nitrous should help, his car is a tad bit heavier than a 350z, it should run somewhere in the 14's

OK - I would also like to avoid anything that might result in me being handcuffed, sued, thrown in jail, etc.
He's a terrible driver, that's what I'm counting on. He couldn't even drive his old car and it only had 5 speeds. I could drive his 3000K and beat him driving my GSR. He's goes into 4th at 25mph and practically stalls out and then throws it into 2nd and you practically hit the windshield. He has NO idea what to do with 6 gears. The Infinity is a beautiful car though.

Unless he's absolutely hopeless.. you will lose.
A cursory search of the Road & Track Summaries will show the gap.
A G35 coupe runs the 1/4 mi in 14.4sec @ 100
A stock DC2 will run around 15.7sec @ 92 ± with a clean launch.
Also you'll be at a disadvantage, both in displacement and launch traction.
If you still feel like running him, save the racing for the track.
Lastly, moved to the Drag Strip Forum..
A cursory search of the Road & Track Summaries will show the gap.

You can beat him if he gives you at least a 12 car length. Other than that your screwed. Don't chance getting whipped, the cars are in 2 different classes.
G35 = Quick
GSR = Not so quick when compared to G35
G35 = Quick
