Default Advice on launching my GSR

I've got a 98 GSR. Stock Clutch. Only mods are a 4-1 header, High Flow Cat, and an SRI.

How should I be launching this car. Where should I put the RPMs and how should I release the clutch?

Thanks

try various rpm points and see what the car likes. a lot also depends on what tires you have, tire pressure, etc.

hold the rpm's steady and slip the clutch. feather the gas until you feel the tires hook up.

it takes some practice.

from my expierences :rick: anything above 4-4.5k with stock tires and you'll just get a lot of wheel spin/hop.

I find launching at 3k rpm is perfect.

Great... Thanks guys. I'll try around 3-4 and see what works best. So I get the RPMs up and keep them there. Slip the clutch out and wait for it to hook up and then floor it.

Next question Where do you guys usually shift on a stock GSR. 7K?

in a race you should be shifting at redline, even thought he engine peaks at around 7000 you are still making more power at the redline than at the RPM point you'd be shifting to

daily driving in my GSR i usually get it going in first till like 4 and then wind it up in 2nd

if your car redlines at 8,200 RPM shift at 8,000 and I say launch at 4K because when you gain traction VTEC will kick in
