Default A/C Switch (freon)

Hey does anyone know how hard it is to switch out the old a/c systems to the new? (R-12 to R-135)?
I've got a 90 Integra and was told it's a matter of switching out the valve and using R-135 (bought the kit from AutoZone). Tried doing this but my system wouldn't take it. The blower works but it wouldn't suck any of the can into the system, nothing came out. Could this possibly be the compressor? With the car running I tried turning on the a/c but got the same amount of pressure and air temp that I get when using outside air, plus the light on the a/c switch (dash) never came on. Any ideas? This hot ass summer is hurting a girl!

i used the kit you're talking about on mine. It works great but doesn't cool down the car when its been outside all day. also, the compressor clicks on and off sometimes and fuks with the rpms which is annoying. (anyone who can help with that would be nice) I would have gone with R12, but couldent find any place that has it.

Your profile said Jacksonville. At the Goodyear service shop, at least in my town, they have R12. I thought it was something like $68/lb.

You might want to give one of these guys a call if you are still interested in R12. I have to recharge mine sometime, but haven't found that great of a need yet.
