Integra - hatch latch won't release

The third and final issue I'm currently experiencing with my '99 GS coupe is that the hatch latch isn't releasing the "u-hook" when I unlock the car with my alarm remote or interior switches. In order to open the hatch, I need to insert my key, then turn it all the way to the right and move the hatch release to the left simultaneously. Simply turning the key all the way clockwise doesn't release the hatch. Is this the sign of a bad latch mechanism, or does it just need some lubrication?

This thread is 2 years old, but there are plenty of solutions if you just use the "SEARCH" function.

Most likely is your actuator.

that what it was for me. Went to the junkyard, 33 dollars later rear hatch actuator. 3 screws hold it on, incredibly simple to fix.
