diy camera install *pics*
Here's some pictures of my diy camera mount. I thought some of you would be interested in this since I know a lot of you autox and canyon carve. It's a cheap alternative yet very effective. Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything bad that happens if something bad happens. Enjoy.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/fa2481ce.jpg Here's pretty much what you need. Bolt and washer size is 1/4", length depends on how thick your bar is. I got my bar off an old bike rack that I never use. Real sturdy, make sure yours is too. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/fa2481cb.jpg I took the camera mount off my old tripod. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/fa2481c9.jpg You need to drill holes so the bar can go onto the headrest. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...3/fa2481c4.jpg Dont forget the hole for the mount. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/fa2481c6.jpg Install bar like this. Everything should be even. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/fa2481c2.jpg Screw the camera mount with the bolt and washer. Righty tighty, lefty loosey. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/fa2481b5.jpg Nice huh? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/fa2481ab.jpg That's right. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/fa2481a5.jpg Here it is with my old camcorder mounted. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/fa24819d.jpg Nice and even, sorta. Nothing an adjustable camera mount can't change. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/fa248196.jpg My power inverter I use for the camera. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and I plug my camera into that. No worries of batteries going dead during my long canyon drives. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/fa248190.jpg JDM approved! Whatever that means. |
Here's 2 more pictures of my second mount in the works. I took a drive with the first one and camera shakes are very minimal. I'm going to be adding rubber sleeves to the headrest using a hose of some sort so there's no metal to metal contact. I'm also going to try another camera mount because the one I currently have is too big and old school for my tastes. I'll try to keep this updated best I could.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/fa242cfe.jpg Here's a sneak peek at #2. ;) Thick enough? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/fa242cf5.jpg This bar's so strong it survived my mighty judo chop! :o |
nice man. very creative. looks kinda scary tho! looks like a pipe came flying through your passenger window and went through the seat or something! lol. :thumb:

i saw a mount kinda like that in the rr/autox forum on H-T. But it was two billet pieces that bolted together around the headrest poles rather than one peice w/ holes. Pretty cool tho.
Too bad I can't make a mount like that. Damn 5th gen seats :( |
Haha you finished that up before going to pho with us huh?!?
I wanna do one myself, but I don't have a DV camera :exnbp: |
Good idea's
I'm gonna be shooting a movie soon, and using my car in it frequently. In-car shots are gonna be a pain in the ass, but these give me some ideas :rick: |
