The Definitive Black Car Thread
I have a black 98 Honda Accord. I've allways been told to not use a machine buffer on a black car, true?? I never can seem to get a SUPER consistant finish. Would a machine polisher/buffer be the ticket??? Also, any type of special buffing pads to use with different polishes/waxes??

This is my old car
https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...&postcount=218 Imagine virtually no clear coat left I used just mediocre pads (wools) and 7" orbital (industrial type) with 3M and Meguiars Professional stuffs to redo the finish. It's true that it's very hard to work with black, but the finish is awsome. Be extra careful when use the machine :) The pics was taken on a normal day, just randomly. NOT AFTER the detail. Looks much better in person. |
I have clearcoat, not problems there. Any other tips for a black car??

see my other thread, "Ultimate detailing package". I will update it once I start to work on it.

Approach with the least aggressive combination first, and see what works. Maybe a light cutting pad with a polish is all you may need. Wool, as someone mentioned, is too aggressive. Check out autopia.com, and look at the flawless finishes on their black cars.
