Transmission fluid ??

Does anyone know what type of transmission fluid goes in a 1989 Honda CRX si 1.6 ?? cuz i changed my CV shaft and a little came out. Thing is the fluid was red?? A friend of mine was saying that the transmission for the civic takes 10w30 engine oil is that true ?? cause for sure i don’t have no 10w30 in my transmission cuz its red fluid. Im going to change it What do i put back in ??

Best bet is to buy Honda MTF at your dealer. But 10 or 5w30 is what others suggest (I forget which one).

MANUAL tranny fluid is just 10w40 u can also get honda MTL or REDLINE MTL which i use, but with red fluid i have to ask are u running an automatic? because most automatic transmission fluids are red, if u are then get the correct type ATL NOT MTL

I would say go with the honda mtl it made my grinding si tranny feel a bit smoother. I currently use gm syncromesh in the 4wd wagon and I swear by it when my new tranny install is finished I'll see if it works wonders on that one too.
