I have a standard engine. 70 hp. Ugh, how weak, huh? Thanks FourthGenHatch for helping me out with that info.

your engine (d15b2) makes 92 hp and 89 lb ft tq with a 9.2:1 compression ratio

Default what can you do with a dx engine?

it seems you are looking to keep the car as a comfortable daily driver...or i'd suggest a serious gutting of the car's interior and taking out the a/c system if it has one (makes it much faster and nimbler...basically reduce weight and any car handles better)

it also depends on how serious you want it to be a fast car...you can do the myriad of bolt ons to the dx (intake, header, exhaust [i/h/e] and it'll be a little faster...you can swap on a sohc vtec head (d16z6 or y8) after converting to mpfi and get near 130 whp with good tuning and a vafc

The problem is not fast, the problem is power. I guess those could be one in the same. I want to be able to carry more than three people in my car.

Here's the story... My friend and his cousin needed a ride home, so I told them to hop on in. The thing is, my friend's cousin is bigger than me in every direction. He weighed down the car enough to make me ride the car in 2nd all the way to his house just to keep up with the flow of traffic. It sucked. Majorly.

I want to avoid that as much as possible, especially since I'm driving to Arkansas for college in a month or so. I imagine my luggage will be significantly heavy. I also want to be able to drive around with friends.

I don't know what I need.

He said he had the black part in the middle of his lights, that would be what a STD had, I believe. And the STD made like 70hp or something.

Here are specs...

Yeah it had a 4spd, could have possibly had the option of 5spd, don't know. And yes it probably would have whimpy axels.

mine is a 4spd manual. Don't know about the 5 spd option. Weak axles? Is that a bad thing or something I could live with after upgrading the engine?
