Best B16 series engine?
What is the best B16 engine, and should I try to put one in my crx, or should I build from the ground up starting with a block and if so what block and what cam and other stuff should I use.
First of all if you know anyting about Hondas and building a Honda, go from the ground up. But since you are asking this question I doubt you do. No offense to you, just making an asumption. The best B 16 engine is the B16B engine. AKA the Civic Type R engine. They are hard to come across, but when you do get it fast. I started witha B16a1, which I still have, but I got more and more brave and started working on my car, now I am finishing building the head, jsut put in new pistons and bearings. I suggest if u have the cash go for the full blown build up. But if i were u get a like B16a1 or a2 and jsut go from learnin about putting bolt ons on. If you dont care about working on your car, do what u want to then. But if you want to cut costs on installation and stuff, learn everything on ur own. Thats my .02 Cents.

The b16b is overpriced. Spec wise, Yes it is the best b16 engine, but not for the $$$
I would say NO, for 2 reasons.
1. You sound extremely new to this. Putting that motor in is not a snap and cannot be done by someone as new as you.
2. Between wiring and mounts and other hardware, it will get expensive. I thought about putting my b18c5 into my Crx, but did not want to spend that type of money to trying to get it to fit and run.

b16a will fit u just fine. Plus, for the difference in cost, u can purchase a turbo. The b16b will drop in like a b16a, but u will need to rewire your car for obd2, which is HUGE pain, and expensive if u don't know how to do it. It will probably run u more than $5k after all is said and done. A typical b16a swap costs around $2k. BTW, that's without the extra cost of having someone install the engine for u. I'd say add 1k or so for install.
