need help with possible motor swap

I recently got a 77' honda civic, but it has a blown motor. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what kind of motor i could replace the old one with and how difficult it would be.

If that is the civic you speak of, I say you drop a K-series into it :oh:

BTW, your 77 civic has 50 hp stock and is a 1.2L 4-cylinder. Dayum man, what are you running at the track, like 23's?

More info here: http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/gener...2/article.html (I was bored :oh: )

omg there were civics back then, thats nuts!

Yes they did but no Civics didnt get love until the EF's came around 88-91. They're definately a classic but didn't think anyone still owned them. Good luck finding a motor for that year..

The Honda Civic has been produced since 1973. They where very popular gas-crisis era cars.

Not true, 85-87 CRX Si/ 86-87 Civic Si's where very popular to have swapped with 86-87 Integra D16A1's. This predated the B16 swap craze.

If I recall correctly, the late '70s Accord engine can be made to work in the '77 Civic... something like a 1.8l.

If there is enough space, I'm sure you could find some way to make it all work. It'd be very interesting, let me know how it goes. I've got a friend with a "S600" in his back yard.

This is actually very interesting indeed because I was still waiting for you to day "oops, typo, I meant 87." But wow, you really have a 77' civic. You need to keep us informed on how this progresses because I think this is a historical event :p Post some pics if you can too, I wanna see this bad boy.

"Drop in" like bolt-in? Absolutely not. You're going to need to figure out custom mounts, custom axels, possible front suspension redesign, fuel delivery, etc.

It's about the same amount of work as dropping a D16 into a Toyota Camry.
