Dyno'd teh crx... pretyt impressive for a honda!

Whats up guys.. well i got bored and dyno'd my little pos honda.

its an 89dx with a b16a1 in it
i/h/e and an act 6puk clutch

hit the dyno and laid down 141hp and 101 tq to the wheels..
not bad for as few mods as i have.. hell even the cat is still stock.. i wish i would have unbolted the cat.. but oh well..
the numbers speak for themselfs

assuming 15% drivetrain power loss...

141 / .85 = ~165 crank hp:D

what was the temp like? humidity? just curious..

dont know for exact.. think it was 33deg

thats pretty sad.. sorry to say.. you gained 5 hp from i/h/e.. rofl, sorry i would never go B16... and your #'s prove it for how much you put in it... with the engine probably what? $2500?

comparing raw dyno numbers is pretty useless
factors
humidity
altitude
temperature
wheel size & weight
tire size & weight
engine condition (old, just tuned up, rebuilt)
what intake?
what exhaust?
what where the dyno plots instead of peak #s? (if you gained 5 hp across the board and significant torque in the low to mid rpms then that is pretty powerful even though a max of 5 hp doesn't sound like much)
...there are many more variables and not just these

on its face i wouldn't say that was a waste of money as we don't know the complete picture

from what he gave us, that was sad.. and 33 degrees out will help him for the intake sake i believe. sorry when i first got my hatch i wanted to go B16 cuz i thought wow 160hp.. but what 108 ft/tq?? lol that then later on through me off.

sorry i guess i'm into gaining more power the cheaper way :) SOHC turbo coming soon, hehe... working on the ZC tranny right now. i'll post my dyno charts when its all done. ;-)

the b16a isn't a great drag race engine...it was made for road racing (and back then [1980s] 160hp out of a 1.6 liter engine without forced induction was very impressive)

Stock they had 160hp, that's brand new from the factory. There's no telling what kind of condition his motor is in.

Most shops that you dyno at today have something called SAE correction, if they don't they suck. And 140 whp isn't that bad for a 1st gen B16 with who knows how many miles and what condition it's in like tehjustin pointed out.

And zivicase there you go talking about your mighty sohc turbo setup that will never come to being while BASHING on someone else's b16 (while in the other thread you defended b16hatchhomo like he provided you daily nourishment with his tits)
