Default navigation error

Hi, I have a 99 TL with navigation system and the screen has been displaying message "Hard Disk Error (Need to be Formatted) Consult your Dealer". Have anyone experience this problem and how much did it cost? My warranty have already expired. Thank you for any help.

Have you tried ejecting and re-inserting the disk? There's only 2 things that could be wrong. Your disk or the Navi unit in the trunk.

thanks for the advice, I have actually tried doing that, but I still get the same message. One dealer (Courtesy Acura) here in Orlando say that he will update my disk, which hopefully will solve the problem. That would cost $60 in royal fee plus $20 in labor. If that does not work, than it could be the unit itself, which I assume will be more major. The other Acura dealer (Fountain Acura) says that it will cost $75 just to look at it.

They are going to charge you $20 just to eject and re-insert a new disk? Good luck though.

tennis32828:
The HD is just a pcmcia type III drive. I'm in the process of buying a HD for a friend to replace his stolen one and programming it (nothing more than formatting the drive and putting the right files on it. If you're interested let me know. We should have the files online shortly.

whats up hpric, like I mentioned, I have a 99 tl, so its hard drive based. I did not get it fix. The problem occurred awhile for about 3 weeks, but one morning i turned on the car and the navigation worked. So its been working now (knock knock). So sorry I didn't help you much. Let me know how your turns out.

Finally got the problem resolved. It turns out that my battery terminal needed cleaning and was not providing a good current to the Nav system. Once the terminals were cleaned the Nav had to be unlocked using a security pin that I didn't have. I had to call the original dealer who provided me with the pin and now everything works perfect, Thank God.

I know that this thread is old, but this this ever work?

If, so I would love to know what you did, and how you did it. I am in the IT field, and should have no problem making this work. Please reply to this post, or send me an email to ebay@levinefamily5.com. thanks.
