3 JL's or 2 Alpines ???
Alright I need some advice....I guy I know at a body shop said he would sell me 3 12'' jl audio W0's for 225...or I can get two 12" alpine type r's for the same price. I know for the price i'd be getting one jl, but i guess what im asking is which one do you guys think is better? I plan on putting these in my daily driver, a 98 civic coupe, and I'm just wantin some boom, nothing huge, but at the same time i want the best sound quality. Any suggestions?

* I meant to say for the price I'd be getting one EXTRA JL*

Depends on the JL or Alpine. If they're Type R dual voice coil, go for the Alpines. All of Alpine's gear is reliable and clear.

the JL's are the W0's and the alpines are the type r dvc 2+2 or 4+4 ohm(not sure which when i'd get)

go for the Type-Rs. the W0s are nice woofers but they are JL's lowest line. The Alpine Type-Rs are often compared to JL's middle line W3's. A personal friend with a civic coupe has had 2 12W3v2s and 2 12" Type-Rs with the same amp. He liked the Type-Rs better and currently has them. he said they got louder and sounded better than the W3v2's. So i would say go with the 2 Type-Rs.
Also you should get 2 2-ohm dual voice coil woofers for the Type-Rs. therefore you can wire each subwoofer in series for a 4 ohm load, then wire the 2 subwoofers together for a final load of 2 ohms. Hope that helps. |
get the jl's they hit harder i know my dad has them in his 91 mustang but they were in the 97 hatch

I agree with 94cc0rd. You'll get more flexibility with 2 dual vc's than 3 woofers.
