Default Alpine 7893 or 7894? Please help me choose...

I am in the process of purchasing a Alpine 7893 or 7894 CD receiver.

7893 Specs:

• 60W x 4 V-Drive Hybrid Amplifier
• Bass Engine® Plus
- Media Xpander™
- 4-Channel Digital Time Correction
- 3-Position 12dB/Octave Crossover
- Subwoofer Level Control with Phase Selector
- Bass Center Frequency and Width Control
- Treble Center Frequency Control
• XM Satellite Radio Ready
• CD-R/RW Playback
• Versatile-Link™ Ready
• KCA-410C Multi-Versatile Link Terminal Compatible
• MaxTune SQ Tuner
• Regulated 1Bit DAC
• 4 Volt Subwoofer PreOut (2V front/rear)
• 3 PreOuts
• Silver Finish with Bright Blue LEDs
• Swing Mechanism with Detachable Face
• RUE-4187 Wireless Remote Control Included

7894 adds:

·4 V PreOut (Front/Rear/Sub) with DC-DC Converter
• MP3, CD-R/RW Playback
• CD Text and MP3 ID3 Tag Information Display
• Blackout Display (Save power from display for better sound)

I prefer the look of the 7893 but I prefer the features of the 7894. 7894 is about 50 to 80 bucks extra on ebay.

If you were me which would you buy and why?

Thanks

i prefer functionality over looks any day. plus an mp3 player in your car is hella nice. not as much fumbling through discs while goin down the highway.

if you are going to create a compitition system and add external amps to run the front and rear speakers, i would go with the 7894 because the 4v pre-amp output will help sound quality. but if not, i would say go with the 7893, and get XM. the internal amps in alpine headunits are awesome and produce alot of RMS power so i'm sure it would be loud enough.

Well I don't plan on powering my speakers with amps....I just want a sub with a sub-amp. I already have infinity 2-ways in front.

i had no idea that alpine put such low pre amp outs....
but i got to give them props for the 60 x 4
mine is 45x4 but 7.5v out...

If you listen to MP3's a lot, or you just want to have 1 disc instead of 10, then get the one with mp3's. if you really dont need the mp3's and want the better looking design and save some money while you are at it, get that.

Thats why I would choose pioneer....they look the best and have great features.

I need a balance of function and form, one cant out weight the other by an enourmous amount....

Have you looked at the Pioneer DEH-P740MP?
Same price range I think.

I would mostly base the choice on wether or not you are going to be shuffling CDs around a lot or are you fine with listening to the same CD for hours? If you like much variety in your music then I'd suggest the 7894 because of the MP3 feature. It's just something about having 100+ tracks on a CD that gets me. The blackout feature is pretty nice at night so that you don't have a huge display bright in your eyes. That's my 2 cents

I think the Alpine has waaay more features than the pioneer personally.

I used to own a CDX-M600 sony with blackout face that got stolen and I am kinda leaning more towards features than looks now.
