Need suggestions on 6x9's & 6½" components...
 

I'm looking into getting a set of aftermarket 6x9's and 6½'s for my '99 Civic. For the past month or so, I've been pretty content in getting the Infinity Kappa 60.5CS components (6½) and Infinity Kappa 692.5i (6x9). Can you suggest me any other 6½" component and 6x9 combo? If you have the Infinity Kappa 60.5CS and/or Infinity Kappa 692.5i, or know someone with this set-up; how do they sound?

If you're looking into 61/2 and 6x9s and you're eye is on the infinitys then I'd say your budget is in the $200-250 range for 2 sets of speakers. The kappas are very nice sounding speakers for thier respective price range. Midbass wise out of the components can be a little finnicky so installation and sound deadening will have to be top notch. Tweets on the comps are bright but bearable unlike the perfects... *ouch*

ANother similar brand which IMO sound a bit better with a bit more midbass punch would be the ALpine TypeR component sets and 6x9s.. If you search on ebay you can get some great prices around the same price for the kappas.

Lastly when people are in the entry-mid level budget range for speakers, I haveto always suggest the Rainbow Dreamline comp set and if you want to match..their 6x9s as well... decent midbass punch but very very smooth tweet. Try ampmanaudio.com for these..

I have almost the exact same setup that you want to install in my accord. I have the Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components up front (you can read the trials and tribulations of that install on this forum) and the Kappa 693.5i in the back . I got the 6x9's first and they sounded great without having to do any type of sound adjustments. The fronts I installed a few months later but those on the other hand were a little harder to install and when I turned on the stereo for the first time after they were installed, to be honest, sounded like crap. :mad: There was a HUGE phasing problem, almost to the point where I thought I had crossed a positive and negative wire but when I rechecked they were all installed correctly. To make a long story short I had to fiddle with the time correction on the head unit A LOT before I finally got them to sound right but once I got the numbers correct it sounds like a frickin concert hall in my car. I don't know if anyone else had this problem with these speakers but the time correction on my Alpine HU was like a gift from God himself. :thumbup: What are you going to use the power your speakers? Amp, HU?

I'm leaning towards an Alpine headunit... either the CDA-7897 or CDA-9815... and for the amp, I'm leaning towards the JL Audio 300/4.

Boston Pro Series 6.5 are nice component speakers for front. You can get Boston Rally RM9 6x9 for rear. Actually, I just got them on my car 03 Accord last month, same set up with JL 450/4, no subs. The only catch is the price, a bit expensive.
