Escort 8500. I have one personally, and Ive been through every Bel model ever manufactured until 2000. I just got tired of Bel's inconsistent product performance off the line.

Im an Escort, Bel, Valentine, and K40 dealer. My personal cars have Escorts in them if that tells you anything.

I'd put my money into a Valentine 1 if money was no object...

Escort/Passport 8500 for sure! Although, SiClone does have a good point. I know someone who owns a Valentine 1, and although they are $400.00, they are worth it. IF money is no object, it is by far the best detector on the market. Car and Driver rated it 97/100 points a few months ago, and the 8500 came in second with 73. All others had 50 or less. But the thing that makes me regret buying the 8500 and not the V1 is Mike Valentine's PERSONAL involvement with you, the customer. Every 5 years you can return the detector to him and for around 50.00 he will upgrade the technology (microprocessors, sensors, reflectors). In other words, when the 8500 is obsolete, your V1 is cutting edge again, and you only spent another 50.00. That's where the initial price begins to show it's value. It can really be the last detector you will ever buy. Oh, yeah.... the guy is a business genius. He used to be an engineer for Escort, but when he developed his own designs, instead of giving them to Escort, he founded his own company.

Valentine 1 all the way. Reason being, what other detoector tells ou where the radar is? What other detoector tells you how many radar guns there are? What other detector is upgradable(meaning if you wnat the new features, you'd have to buy a new radar detector and then sell your old one, with Valentines, you send it in and they upgrade and send it back, a whole lot cheaper)
