I have a 1998 Civic sedan with SOny 6x9's. The problem I am having is the fact that the plastic panels rattles. What would be a good material to use from preventing the rattles? Spray or mats?

 

what plastic panels u talking about? the ones that cover the 6x9's? If so, i'd just take them out. Things like dynamat are used more for the trunk, door, etc..

 

find out EXACTLY why it is rattling. is it hitting something else? maybe you can find a piece of foam and lay it in between for cushioning.

dynamat and stuff like that are more for deadening bigger panels.

 

Go for some type of foam or insulation where the rattle is coming from if it's the plastic rear deck that is rattling. Dynamat is really only intended to be used on metal.

 

civics rattle...I would suggest investigating the rear deck inside and out before doing anything. If its just the covers, take them off or see if there's a way to tighten them down. Some screws easily get loose on the under side (trunk side of the speaker). I have to tighten mine once every few months.

 

Yeah its the plasitc portian that covers the 6x9's. FOAm sounds like the best idea and its real cheap or free. YES!. . . . .Using FOAM never came to mind. Thanks for the replies

i have one picture w/o the CF hood but its not scanned. . . .actually its on my CPU thats jacked up. . haven't fixed the cpu yet. . . . too lazy. . . .but the car is clean & simple
