best wiring for DVC?

Hey i just got an Alpine SWR-1241D which is the type r 12" alpine rated at 400 watts rms 1000 watts max at 4 ohms per coil. The way the book tells me to set it up is to run the sub with an 8 ohm load but i dont think my amp gives enough power that way im running a bridged thump tha-2000 225x2. Should i leave it at 8 ohms? or can i get it to 2 ohms or 4 ohms anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much because as of right now my two lightning audio 12's were louder than the one 12" alpine r and the two lightning audios only cost me 60 bucks total while the type r cost me 150 so if anyone can help that would be great. THanks

is Thump a brand name?

can you take the sub back and get the 4 ohm version? Or just get a new amp that is stable at 2 ohms.if you dont have much money you can pick up a jbl 600.1 for like 200 bucks on ebay.

Let me get this straight....

You have a dual 4 ohm sub correct???

Your amp does 225x2 a 4 ohm stereo right???

I'm not certain, but it probably maxes out at 4 ohm mono. It's ok though because you don't have to run it at 4 ohm mono.

Here's what you can do if you can't get a dual 2 ohm sub: wire it straight up, i.e. 1 channel per voice coil (so the sub will be getting the 225x2). Hopefully your amp has a low pass crossover on it. Switch it to that and you're set.

how do i wire it straight up like that because i only have on terminal. Please let me know thanks. can i atach both positives together and both negatives together then attach the positive to positive right channel and negative to negative left channel? let me know thannks

what do you mean you only have 1 channel. if its rated 225x2 you should have a left and right channel. Even if you do have to channels i would still do it the way you discribed connect the positives together and the the negitives together. there is really not much difference but it makes sure both coils get the same exact signal and its less wires running to the amp.

Check out Rockford Fosgate's website...they have great wiring diagrams.
