Hey how's it going everyone. I want to install a power trunk release for my car and i was wondering how exactly to do it. I have an idea but i rather get instructions from someone who has done it before. Any sites and/or diagrams would be appreciated. thanks guys!

autoloc makes a kit

yeah, the autoloc kit works well, its just really loud when it pops... I wrapped my solenoid in dynamat and then some foam-rubber to quiet the damn thing down.

if you have an lx, i think you can buy the optional honda opener...it's like $40 at the dealer. however, you might have to rig it up if you don't have the factory wiring and/or remote.

get autoloc if you think you cannot get the oem piece. i think the biggest issue with aftermarket openers is the install. due to the location of the lock sometimes, it can be hard to get a good good mounting point where it will work reliably.

I was planning on getting the aftermarket kit. So it'd be helpful for some instructions on that. I think my biggest concern is where or how to hook the release cable of the aftermarket one if i want to keep the old factory manual release too. Get wut i'm trying to say? Thanks...

oh and also how do u connect it to your alarm?

I installed a DEI solenoid on mine, and I think most solenoids work the same. The release cable should wrap around the rocker in the lock mechanism. The part that pulls back when you pull the manual release inside is the rocker. As for the wiring, ground the solenoid right to trunk lid, and then run the trigger wire to the trigger output line of the security system main box. Whether its aftermarket or factory you have to look for the optional trigger output.

did u connect the power straight to the battery? also when running the tigger wire to the main box, do i have to tap it to a wire that's already hooked up to the output line or wut? thanks! anyone else have info?

hey, i got my alarm installed at this place.. and my alarm has a beep button which locks/unlocks with a beep and a silent which locks/unlocks silently... and there is also a trunk opener button but they said i have to pay 60 dollars (installed) for the trunk opener... is it worth it?

Well the power release i'm getting costs $15 w/o installation. From the looks of it, the installation doesn't seem too hard. You're from Arcadia and i'm sure you know about California Pro Tint out in Temple City. They're charging $50 for the kit and installation. What place u getting it from?
