Default speaker question

I might be getting a Kicker HS12L5 soon. I have a Kicker ZR360 amp. I've heard this speaker needs lots of power for full potential. Will this amp be powerful enough for this sub? Also how do I wire parallel (1 ohm)?

the L5...http://www.kicker.com/ShowPage.cfm?f...enu=SUBWOOFERS

they come in 2OHM or 4OHM DVC. if you want to have a final impedance of 1OHM with a sinlge sub, you will have to get the 2OHM DVC. then wire it in parallel.

looks like they want about 600watts. which is A LOT, in my opinion.

im not too familar with that amp, but isnt it a 4ch amp? and to get a 4ch amp to play a single sub @1OHM is not worth it.

No its a 2 channel amp and it pushed 3 Image Dyanamic DVC's when I had them. Now I've got one ID DVC and the sub can't handle the power. So you think 360 bridged watts would push the L5 pretty hard?

ok, you are right. for some reason i thought it was a 4ch amp. i dont see how a ID cant take a bit over 300watts. thats about the same i am pushing to mine.

anyway...that amp is not built to be played at 1OHM. so i suggest you get a final 2OHM impedance. which is from the 4OHM DVC. it wont play to its full potential in terms of power handling, but i dont think you will really complain about it.

why are you getting rid of the ID?

The ID pops when I turn it up even a little bit loud. I don't know if its fried or if its not powerful enough for my amp. I don't know if I'm getting rid of it for sure. I was trying to sell my lip on houston-imports.com and this guy told me he'd trade the sub for my lip.

Do you only have one ID sub now or just using one?
