Default looking for sub+box that would match (best SQ sound) for an JL Audio sub amp.

hey again

I would like to know some websites for sub+box (single sub most likely 12 inch... maybe 10 all depends) that would match perfectly with a JL Audio 250/1 sub amp.

I'm looking for nice clean bass at medium to low volume. Any ideas guys..or a some links would be helpful.

in 2000 accord coupe car:

Sony Cdx c90 or Clarion hx-d10 headunit (havent decided on yet)
currently have Pioneer 9300(all looks but okok sound quality)

Eclipse 8263 6.5 coax all around 40rms

Eclipse 3640 4 channel amp 40x4 rms power

current sub.. 15" rockford punch with ebay bought box running
off of a 160 a2 rockford amp... sound muddy inaccurate..

at loud volumes..sub&amp are loud...muddy but at low volume bass is basically very little.

I'm really looking for nice clean bass, that I dont need to break windows with.. just some nice Sound quality at any volume.

.........
Thanks guys!

any more info on maybe some personal reviews on the hx-d10?
The clarion website doesnt even list this as one of it's products.

I'd really like to hear from ppl who have this unit in their cars.

And for the sub... alipne type r huh? I'll check out some specs and reviews.. What about the box type?

i highly doubt that clarion would sound horrible.
I owned two clarions and both were great
i have the 9675rz, which you can find new pretty freaking cheap on ebay
that my friend is a super nice deck

also the type r can be bought through www.ikesound.com for a little over 100 bucks, and it requires a max of 1.0 cubic foot sealed.
whats the jl specs?

The Clarion HX-D10 was a "Limited Edition" piece and was part of their Pro Audio Line. It's a few years old, and was listed with an MSRP of $700+. It has no internal head, and you can bypass all of the tone controls...It has dual 24 (maybe 20) bit dac's, and all components on the board are hand matched. Some of the parts are leftovers from the great 9255 that clarion used to make. At 300 from crutchfield, it's a steal IMO. That sony unit is great, so I wouldn't count it out either.

You will find the most info at crutchfield. Also, seach over at elitecaraudio.com for the Clarion. There are a lot of people over there who jumped on this head for the price (myself included). Mine is still in the box waiting for a new home. The general concensus (that I understand) is that it's a bit picky about scrtched cd's, but past that it's a good unit. Go over there and do a search for more info.

As for subs.....I'd run an IDQ12 , that's just my preference. You also may want an a/d/s/ 312RS.2 - great SQ woofer.

Curley, I'll check out elitecaraudio right now.
So when a amp pumps out 250watts rms.. around what range sub should I get rms for it to run at just below full excursion?

Logically getting a 500rms sub for this amp would not make sense... so I was thinking somewhere in the ballpark of 200-300rms would be wise?

As for the Clarion headunit... and other headunits.. what gives a headunit that nice soundstage and good SQ... I guess my def. of SQ would mean hearing nuances in the music that normally wouldnt be heard in a low quality headunit.

From my previous headunit a Blaupunkt cd-70 san francisco(I had to change it because of skipping and the damn thing would all of a sudden switch over to the radio whenever it felt like it...)

the sound quality of that vs my current 9300 are east and west.. for example when I tossed in a dave matthews band CD, I could hear extra nuances in the music.. compared to the pioneer which sounds muffled and just flat.
Mind you same speakers and amp from then till now.

I did read that car audio help website and it gets very very technical

sorry for the rambling..but I'm a very curious when it comes to good sound quality
