Hey guys, ...I recently took my brothers ( wanted it back )kicker sub amp out of my car and put in my audiobahn amp and is connect to the factory radio. Sub works fine etc...but, if I turn off the radio there is this loud buzzing noise the sub produces. To remedy this I turn the gain down on the crossover ( by use of a knob ).

All that I did was disconnect his amp and connect those wires to mine.
Simple. His amp didnt do that. The turn on lead is connected to ignition if that helps. Basically the amp stays on even after the radio is powered off but, turns off when I turn the ignition off.

Anyone know what could be causing this? Maybe the amp messed up?
btw..I was using it in my prior car for a couple years with no problems and i let it sit in my garage for about a month until I installed it today.

stock deck or afternarket. Try disconnecting your RCA and see if the noise is still there. I have always seen issues with remote wires running off the ignition. This is because the ignition carries alot of noise on the cable and cause your amp to buzz when deck is off but key still in ignition.

its the stock deck. connected to the amp via a high to low converter.
I wasnt experiencing this problem though with my brothers amp

Sounds like when you turn the radio off it's still trying to amplify because you're using the ignition instead of a actual remote turn-on provided by an aftermarket radio. If the amp stays on with no signal to amplify with the gain up, it's going to buzz if it's stupid enough to try to amplify nothing.

Solution 1: Get an aftermarket radio.
Solution 2: Wire a switch to the remote wire so you can interrupt the REM wire.

you could wire up a switch as total mentioned or take a look at your LOC (low output converter) and you could tkae the RCA shell and solder a wire to it, and with thta wire connect it straight to ground. It might remove some noise because it like ground isolator.

you can pull out your deck with din tools or go and use your factory amp turn on lead. This is 12v (+) under passenger side seat or in the rear passenger side. the wire is WHITE

well im planning on getting an aftermarket radio anyway so that'll fix my problem.
