the alpine is 1000RMS at 4 ohms...if you are using 2 type R;s wire them in series not parallel that way you keep it at 4 ohms... (from dual 4 ohms to single 8 ohms then back to 4.)

the rockford is 1200RMS at 1 ohm and is a little cheaper then the alpine. (run it parallel to Dual 4 down to single 2 then single 1.)

either way its going to sound sweet but less distortion at lower ohms,BUT more heat at 1 ohm...

get which ever you can get for cheaper

yeah i figured out that the Rockford would probably put out more than it says rms, but to change the subject i found a good deal on a JL 300/4 amp for $350 brand new and i think i might have to take that

I'd go Alpine, cleaner sound. I'd imagine it'll have a lower S/N ratio.

if your going to power up two type r's then you should get the Alpine V power amp. well 2 of them. they are 400 a piece but they will power the type Rs to their full potential (800RMS) at 2 Ohms. a type R at 800RMS will be very impressive.

i believe the model it MRP-M850

well if he gets 2 of the alpine amps, he is spending 800 + tax on both of them, plus the cost of power and ground distribution blocks and extra wires. he goes with the rockford amp hes spending 150 less and getting more out of the amp.
