4 chan amp recommendation?
i got 4 matching Alpine Type-R speakers in my car and they are all 55RMS. What 4chan Amp would be good for me?
My head unit does 20w*4Rms and its just sounds a bit louder than stock but, not drasticly.

sony xplod 500 watt max 4 channel.... it puts out like 50 or 60 per channel at 4 ohms which is decent for good aftermarket speakers like your type-r's......if u play your cards right u can find the amp at like wal mart or something for like 98 bucks so its not bad

I see alot of diffrent 4 channel amps that say they can do so much amount of RMS but, how true are their claims? They can't be posting false numbers or are they? I know for sure that Alpine is a reputable company and they hold true to their claims along with other well known companies however they are expensive. However if there are other lowend brands that offer so high amounts of RMS such as the Sony 4 chan doing 100x4 then what really is the diffrence from that type of power and the Alpine which states it can do 55x4 which is exactly the RMS rating of my speakers? Since I only need 55x4 Rms then this would allow the Sony to relax since it claims it can do 100x4. I'll just not raise the gain all that high.
I just don't like to invest into something thats more than enough costing alot more than the lowerend which can do somewhat the same as the higherend at a much lower price. That's why I'm looking at the Sony 4 chan 500w vs the higher brands.

A lot of compaines now comply to CEA standards. Rockford, Kenwood, and I believe Alpine are all compliant. I know rockford amps come with a sheet that states the claimed power output and its actual output during testing. I honestly cant remember if Sony is CEA compliant, I tried looking on thier website but they dont seem to have any of their car audio products on the site. Thats Sony for ya.

Some companies measure their wattages at different volts...measuring at 14.4 volts will net higher results than measuring at 12 volts.

ya all that shit pisses me off....i dont see why all companies cant just start putting the RMS power on the out side of their boxes instead of the max power which means shit...i see some subs that are like 800 WATTS OF POWER!!!!! and then u look on the back and its like 150 rms....its a pain in the ass
