polk db6500's need amp
 

they have a power handling of 100 watts (300 peak). I have 2 sets of them and i'm looking for an amp to drive them. all the 4ch amps i see put out more than 100 watts, but would it be less with all 4ch hooke dup and not bridged?

basically i'm looking for some reccomendations for an amp to drive these component speakers. as you might notice, i'm a novice with this car electronics stuff.

how much are you looking to spend on the amp itself?

about 200. i'd need a 400 watt 4 ch. right? split up it would deliver 100 each to teh speakers right? if I had more than 100 watts continuously running through those speakers would that bad for it since rms is 100? i'm just getting too confused figuring out what is too much to the speakers and what woudl be too low wattage continuous

100 rms is the continious, but you can have it running at 150 rms.
My amp is 139 watts, but the speakers are rated 110 rms, 300 peak i think.

that's just for starters. You can go with a higher powered amp, and you'd have more headroom. (cleaner sound)

I'd go with an amp that's 150 per channel, yet 100 watts per channel would still be ok, but if you hear distortion, turn it down just a little and watch the gains.

be ready to spend around 40 for a wiring kit and unless you know somoene that knows how to install amps, having it professionally done will run you around 50-60 bucks.

what about those elemental designs amps? I just heard about those online somewhere and they seem pretty good. good quality?
