ALARMS for an '05 accord..need advice.
My sister has an '05 LX and now wants me to shop for an alarm, the thing is, she has REMOTE ENTRY and wants to keep it.
Is there any alrms out there that can adapt to the OEM transmitter?
How much would a dealer installed alrm cost?, and can they adapt it?
What alarms do you guys have, and how do they work well with your 7th gen?
Thanks

Most all alarms will work with the keyless entry, and will even add it if you don't already have it. Aftermarket will give you much more features for the money vs oem. I'd go aftermarket.
I'll look at DEI systems; viper, etc.

I had this one installed a few months ago Clifford RSX 3.5
Got it from here SonicElectronix
It's all in one: alarm, remote starter, keyless entry. Works flawlessly. Very good range. Options galore and most of them either adjustable or can be turned on or off.
It comes with installation manual as well as options manual. I never looked into DIY though. I am not on friendly terms with electricity. Buddy of mine, who does this kind of stuff for a living, installed it for me. I was installing my CAI at the same time and had a chance to watch him work on my alarm. Was I glad I made a decision not to install it myself.
I tried it for a couple of weeks, just to see if I want any options changed. Went back to turn off "All Doors Lock With Ignition On" and to turn on "Unlock All Doors When Disarmed".
Oh BTW, my stock key buttons still work like a charm.
Hope this helps.

Clifford is as hard as any other alarm is to install . I'v installed Clifford and it was about a 8 out of 10 scale to do. Most car alarm shops install the alrm for about 50 bucks with an ad on for actuators for the keyless entry system. I prefer Alpine alarms . They have the Blue LED light that looks great and they offer all kinds of upgrades, but Clifford was and still is just an alarm company.
Forgot to mention I had 2 modules installed which allow for factory security bypass. Besides features I have mentioned remote also has trunk release.
Oh, and it comes with a nice red led.
And murf, what do you mean by saying "but Clifford was and still is just an alarm company"?
