JL Audio 300/2

what is everyone's thoughts on jl amps? i have a chance to get one cheap and wanted to ask around before i spent the money. i know there subs THUMP but never heard there amps.

their subs suck... and IMO so do their amps.

Try an Alpine, or wait for the Boston Acoustics amps comming out this month.

I beg to differ on that one, but then again you have your own opinion and i shouldn't diss. I think JL amps are "so-so". There are a lot of amps out there that will do the same job as JL's but for less. It's just a matter of going out and testing each amp for yourself cuz when i noticed, amps give different kinds of bass and that some amps compliment some subs.

yeah, we all have our own tastes...

I just get a lot of blown JL subs... and so do the stereo places around here... I usually end up replacing them with Alpine or Boston, and they people love 'em more than the JL's.

I like the look and I've heard nothing but good things about JL amps. If you can get one for a good deal, how ever much that is:confused:, then by all means go for it....

JL Subs and Amps are extraordinarily good from what I've cross shopped. The only thing that came close was Alpine. JL Audio amps, from what I've heard other owners state, are very reliable.

The local Tweeter's mobile department are all friends of mine (there's only 7 of them), and they LOOOOVE the JL amps, they recommend up with the Xtant amps.

The W3s are well-rounded subs, although slightly boomy in most installations.

Alpine's new amps aren't terrible great sounding.

BUY THE AMP!!!!!!!!!!
There are others on this forum that will push you away from them due to service issues, but I have been installing them for years and I service more alpine than I do jl. If the subs are blowing than i think it is an install thing.
get the JL you will not be upset.

Hell ya... Ive got $3000 into JL and im not done yet!!! Ive got 2 JL 12W3V2's a 500/1 monoblock JL amp to power those! Ive got the JL XR-650-CSI component kit---(6.5 inch woofers and 1 inch tweets)--- and ive got a pair of JL 6X8 inch mids for the back coming this friday... Ive got a JL 300/4 amp to power those!!! :)

I took the amp and hooked it up to a battery in my room with the subs... They started clipping at about a third volume? WTF... so i checked the wireing on the subs... They were fine! :( So Im like WTF? but at 1/3 volume they were nockin pretty hard---(my walls were ratlin)--- And they sounded soooooo clean :) Im not sure but i think the battery i was usin was not powerfull enough or somethin? It was a big ass diehard! I think once i get it all in my 90DX hatch it will sound crazy!!! but thats not gona happen for a few weeks(2)..... Q: does JL make POWER CAPS? another question for a noledgeable audio nut is about the clipping factor.... i just bought a $500 sony CDX-MP70 deck (what I was runnin the subs on) is the volume level givin max boost to the speakers at 1/3?
