those JBL amps are actually really, really nice amps... and they put out some mean power for cheap...
However, I highly recomend buying new from an actual dealer, so you know the warranty is good... Yeah, you will pay a little more, but to me its worth it for the peace of mind.
I'm not too sure if they even make those JBL amps anymore... I havent seen them around really, only used or on eBay.
I think the Alpine MRD-M500 is an awesome amp, and definatly an excelent choice for your setup... wire the subs so the amp sees 2 ohms, and you'll be in bass heaven!! I have the m300 in my car now as a demo, powering 2 10" boston generators, and it sounds like I have 2 15's in the trunk... just a whole lot cleaner and tighter!!

Be careful with the Alpine Mrd M500 amp. I have dealt with the smaller model (Mrd M300) amp and I am very dissappointed. I love Alpine, my entire car is done in Alpine, but it appears the new amps have flaws in them. It may have just been my luck, but I had the Mrd M300 amp for about a week and it just stopped working. One of my good friends also purchased the same amp, and within 3 weeks, it stopped working. This was the first year that everything is done digitally with these amps (gain,HP, LP,etc...) which may be one of the problems.

The alpine amps are great but only at 2 ohms , you said that you bought type r dvc's if they are dual 2 ohm coils you are good to go but if they are dual 4 ohm coils than look at anoher amp . The MRD-M500 and M300 suck alot at 4 ohm and shut down when you run them at 1 ohm. look at JL Audio amps they are a little more money but worth every penny. they will make the same power from 1-8 ohms and from 11-15 volts, ant jl's 500 watts is alot more intense than alpines will ever be , look for a JL AUDIO 500/1. trust me it is sweet.
