2ohm vs 4ohm type r's
Is there any disadvantage to having a 2ohm sub then a 4 ohm one? is there any difference between them? They are both the same price..
Why I'm wondering is...
The alpine mrd-m605 which i'm most likely going to get puts out 600watts @ 2 ohms and 400watts at 4 ohms. Which will sound better or will the sound the same? the 2 and 4 ohm type r's can each carry 500 rms and 1000 peak..is it better to under or overpower them?

I'm sorry I was misinformed aswell, I went on the Alpine site and got correct specs of the subs and amp.
The two different subs power handling are the same:
# Power Handling Capacity (Peak) : 1500W
# Power Handling Capacity (RMS) : 500W
The amp is rated @ 600RMS @ 2 ohm and 400rms @ 4 ohms

If I remember correctly, the Tpe Rs are dual vioce coils. So if you want a 2OHM sub, you need to buy the 4OHM...if you want a 4OHM sub, you will need to buy the 2OHM sub.
With that amp, I would buy the dual 4OHM sub and wire it into 2OHM so you can run the amp at 600 watts. You are not going to blow the subs with an extra 100 watts if you know how to set the gains correctly.

How many subs are you going to run? That will also determine which one you want.
