help a noob;speakers wont fit
i just bought a pair of alpine 170a's and im trying to cram them into my door but the speaker has 4 mounting tabs that stick out and get caught when i try to put it into the housing.. its not flush =\
im assuming the speaker housing should be identical for civics from the same generation.. how did everyone else do it? |
Pics make helping easy.

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but could you break or cut the tabs off and still mount the speakers? If you have basic tools, you can modify the door or the speaker to make them work better.

you might have to pop out the back side of the speaker housing if that is what you are talking about but you needc to post some pics
|
also, what year is your civic?

oops forgot about this one
the magnet on the alpine is about half inch wider diameter-wise and its about 1 finger deeper i have no idea where to start 1998 1.6el |
I have kenwoods with tabs that stick out like that. However, on the kenwoods, the tabs were indented so I could just bend the off.
For your case, get some big wire cutters or tin snips or file to cut/file those tabs down within the size the outer circumference of the speaker to make it fit. You won't harm anything. |
thanks ill give it a try
did the magnet get in the way though for ur kenwoods? the thing is noticeably larger than the stock one so im not sure anymore if its the tabs that are getting caught or the magnet or both |
are those s-type speakers, if they are they didnt fit in the stock position in my car as well. I have a 98 ex coupe. I said ****i it and drilled a hole into the panel and it worked really well no problems to this day.
