well, you can fit 6x9's in the 96/97 accord rear decks...I have infinity 6x9s in the back and they have a mounting depth of 3"+.
as for the front doors, the depth is pretty low, but if you want to fit a normal-sized 6-1/2, you have to cut a hole in that plastic speaker basket in the door. I have infinity 6002si shallow 6-1/2's in the front doors and they have a mounting depth of 1-7/8" which didnt require me to do anything to the basket. I imagine once depths start getting above 2" it is a tighter fit (without cutting)

Crutchfield does say you have to cut a hole for any and all 6-1/2" speakers to fit, which isn't completely true given that I fit my speakers with a little bit of room to spare. But yes, it'll be an easy install with speakers of your size.
