Default CLEAN BASS Questions

hi budies I am looking to complete my car audio system with sub(s)/amp.
The thing here is I listen more to tech/trance/punk music than to deep clubby hip hop that means no fking 15" or more.. Now I was wondering about getting either something like a pair of PG Octane R 10" (or maybe 12) or about the big R from Alpine..( what's strange with alpine is that the S and the R are both 300 W RMS rated) so what do you guys would be the perfect combination I dont wanna go over 500 RMS and I don't wanna spend the rest of my life paying this cool system and I need amp + cables + MDF to make the whole thing rock...

I also heard that if I put a 12" sub in a closer sealed box, I woulg get more "short bass" (like trance bass) is it true? are there risk to **** the sub(s)?

For the amp, I'm thinking of any good pioneer / Alpine / PG Octane R and I dont want to go over 600 RMS so my best choice would be ( I think) a 500 RMS amp from PG but after all I'm posting this to have your opinions so feel free to tell me I'm wrong if I am cuz I don't wanna spend any bucks on a bad combination..

Thx a lot

That's a generalization. 15's generally have lower end extension compared to the same smaller-sized counterparts, but if you know how to build a proper enclosure for it and get the right subsonic filter, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and a 10 or 12 except that it'll probably be louder.

Personally im going to go with a kicker 12' solo baric L5. I had the 10' version which was great but I was under powering it with my sony amp so i kept blowing it.

Im going to match that 12 with an audiobahn A8000T mono amp.
Should be a good setup.

you can not blow a sub by "underpowering" it

There are two ways to blow a sub:
1. exceed the thermal limits of the coil
2. exceed the mechanical limits of the suspension

Neither are caused by too little power, but they can be caused by an improperly setup amplifier

For that much you can get a nice sounding system. I have friend that is a deal if you would like his number just ask.
I can provide a list of brands if you would like also.

No prob here is some of the brands that he carries:

Crystal Mobile sound
ARC
Interfire
MA audio
PPI
Clarion
Pheniox Gold
Alpine
Blaupunkt
Crimestopper
CDT
Rainbow
Viper
sony
pioneer

How many subs do you want to run??? What kind of head unit do have??? Is your car a hatchback or do you have a trunk???

Personally I like interfire amps they are awsome for the money and they are hell of alot better than Pheniox Gold. Interfire amps are pretty cheap too. If you have a hatch 2 10"s will be plenty because subs seem to hit a little harder in hatchbacks. Or even one 12" sub would be awsome in any car unless you are just looking for some cray mad bass. I would recommend 2 10" subs and interfire amp. That will have really good sound with out breaking the bank.

THis is Wayne's home office number so leave a mesage if he doesn't answer:

Baacus Audio
601 977 0333

I hope this helps

Austin
