.5 or 1 farad cap??

I have a 425 watt mtx amp pushing my subs and a 100X4 for my components so i was wondering if i need a .5 farad or a 1 farad capacitor so my lights dont dim so much. also, its possible for me to hook both amps upto the same capacitor right? or would i need a seperate cap for each amp???

generally you only need to hook up your subwoofer amp to a cap, andnot components as they draw much less power than subs do.

the general rule is 1 farad for every 1000 watts, but you can always have more. depending on where you locate/install the cap, you can either buffer one amp or all amps...but buying two is an option if you want dedicated caps.

For the money, just get a 1 farad cap.

You'd be okay with a .5 farad cap, but you may want to just go ahead and buy a 1 farad cap. Also, you could hook up both amps to the cap (RF makes a cap disribution block...unfortunately that's the only company I saw that makes them :ugh: ), but any amp other than the one pushing subs probably don't need a cap.

you wont need a cap for the component amps because that amp wont be taking surges of power from your electrical system like the sub amp will.

you can either get a .5 or 1 farad cap for the sub amp. i would get the 1 farad for cost reasons like siclone said, or you might have that little chance of an upgrade.
