wiring led's so they turn on when the stereo is on
i want to have some led's turn on when the stereo is turned on. no clue how to do it.. can i wire them through the remote wire somehow so they turn on and off in sync with the HU?
any help is appreciated |
You can wire them through the remote wire in your head unit, and if you have a separate wire for a power antenna you can use that one too. Just wire the positive lead to one of these wires and ground the negative somewhere on your chassis. Oh, and it might be smart to fuse the wires also, better safe than sorry.

make sure the LEDs run on 12v or else you might see some sparks fly!

1) Some head units only show voltage on the power antenna lead when the head unit is in tuner mode.
2) If the LEDs don't have a 12V forward voltage, you'll need resistors. |
You should run the amp remote to trigger a relay - then use the output of the relay to trigger the amps and led's
be sure to fuse each wire appropriately. It's a little more work to setup, but it's the safer and proper way to do it IMO |
