SQ wise, would you get 2 12" or 2 10" if they have the same power rating.

Are they the same brand and model??? Does cost figure into it as well??? Please be more specific in terms of what 2 10's and 12's you are deciding on....

im talkinga bout the sub sizes in general. but to be specific, i was looking into alpine type r subs. the 10" and 12 have the same power, 300 rms and 1000 peak.

2 12's would hit a lot harder than the 10's would.

thats a touch question because you can make both sound just as good as the other SQ wise when designing the box.

but i guess I would pick 2 10s in a sealed box for SQ.

Equating driver diameter with it's SQ properties isn't a good idea...any sized sub can be integrated into an SQ system...I can name plenty of people who have used 15" drivers or larger in extremely successful SQ vehicles.

If you were really going for SQ, multiple drivers is the way to go...the more cone area you have, the less excursion you need to create a tone with the same SPL....less excursion = less distortion...then again this is coming from a guy with an IDMAX

If it was me...2 12's
