Added security, how do theives disable car alarms?
 

Well, i've been puttin some cash into my system, and I've just got an alarm installed. I wanted added security, and I'm thinking that when theives want to disable a car alarm, they would probaby break the window, open the hood, then discconect the battery to stop alarm from sounding.

It's a hood lock, so that there's no way they can get under the hood.

Is this a good idea?, opinions?

adding a hood lock will definitly stop or slow down someone trying to steal the whole car. but its at the cost of having those locks on your hood, and cutting 2 holes into them.

all i found on ebay was this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW and that looks like something very cheap which was created in 1985... due to how it looks and lack of eplanation on howit works and no name product.... i wouldnt waste my money on it....

go for ignition cut off that would work but i dunno about that hood lock seems kinda iffy

hmmm, why does the hook lock seem iffy?, I think it's just basic mechanical one, that you run from your current hood lock to under the dash, and it has a key. It looks like a decent idea.. but ya, it does look like it was made in 1985, lol.

if they're going for the system, which is most often the case.... go ahead and make sure everything is bolted down well, and with different style screws, use security screws (like the ones you see on bathroom stalls and stuff), for added measure. You'll need special tools for those.

Also, place an "ear piercing" siren in the trunk with the system....for when the alarm goes off, it'll make it VERY painful to sit around and try to take the stuff.

my post was in reference to the hood locks that look and act just like hood pins. but in replace of the pins, its a lock that requires a key.
