Default Current draw on new amp

Alpine MRD-M300 amp installed with Infinity 10" Kappa Perfect DVC wired in parallel.

The amp is indicating 0.8A current. Does this mean I have a bad ground? The amp seems not as loud as it should be. Any suggestions? It is reading 14.4V with the engine running, so I am getting power to the amp

Currenlty the ground under a bolt which holds the seat down. Could it be that I did not sand down the metal under that bolt to get a good ground?

I just sanded down the metal under the bolt, and still get a 0.8A reading

the 0.8A is normal for the amplifier working with no strong input signal to it. That is pretty much the constant current draw that it needs to operate. If it stays at 0.8A, the ground is most likely the problem. The Alpine amps really need a strong ground connection to work at all. I think the maximum i have seen the amp go up to so far is 19A or something like that.

Any suggestions for a good place to ground the amp?

well, turns out the HU was defective. A little troubleshooting with Crutchfield, and a new one is on it's way. Turns out the the voltage coming off the HU for the subwoofer pre-out was not high enough. Brownie points for Crutchfield since I purchased the HU scratch and dent, I figured I would only get a credit for the same amount, but they are sending a new HU of the same model, the Alpine 9827. I would say that even though they are not the ceapest always, the customer service is commendable. Maybe I should hold off the compliments until I get the new HU hooked up and working though.
