Default Painting AMPS...

I have two amps that I would like to custom paint Silver ( hence color of my car )

Does this require any special paint?
Do I need to prime the amp first? If so, do they sell a spray on primer?

thanks,

Why not take the amps to a body shop and have them color matched using the same paint? I mean if you're going to do it, you may as well do it right the first time.

Auto parts stores sell high temperature spray paint. Not sure about primer.

I wonder if its safe to do this...my amp is flaking and I was thinking of doing the same thing. I was planning to spend the weekend sanding, primering and then painting the amp. But I've decided to hold off until I know its ok to do so.
PS: spray on primer is easily available in all auto stores and walmart too, altho I'm not sure what brand might be the best.

i would advise to go for a primer if your trying to get a good look out of it. but make sure the primer is a high temperature pain. most shops sell high temp paint but high temp primers are hard to find. if you don't have to paint your heat sinks i would advise not to, because most shoudl be specifically engineered to dissappate heat well, and paint could some what bother your amp's ability do dissappiate the heat.
