Default 2002 Civic CD factory player SUCKS!

My CD player doesn't play CD-Rs well at all. I found that some TDK CD-Rs work, but I think they've changed something about their CD's now. I tried a new spindle of them and they just don't work. I am highly frustrated with this crappy CD player. I have a few questions:

1) Why would Honda do this to their customers?
2) Is there some way to force the CD player to play all CD-Rs without hassle?
3) Are there replacements for the CD player (by some other company) that plays CD-Rs?
4) What do you think my best course of action should be?

Most cd players can play burned cds but some are jsut pickier about it. Im sure honda didn't do intentionally since i doubt they have anything do do with the cd player. If its really giving you hat much trouble i would just replace it with something else of higher quaility. You can get cd players faily cheap and maybe even look at mp3 capablilty. Jsut about any cd player should be able to play cdr's. Just take a few into the store to make sure.

I have heard that sometimes the program used to write the CD can be the culprit. I use roxio on my computer, and some CDs dont like to play in my $350 alpine unit... while the same brand CD recorded at my friends house plays fine... he uses nero.
