Speakers for Integra...
 

Hey, I've got a G3 with the panasonic night/day head unit. Stock speakers blow, I can't hear ANY bass. What speakers do you recommend? I'm just going to get fronts for now...I want decent, undistorted bass without a subwoofer.
Some guy at Crutchfield said that even though I have components up now, I can just get a 2 or 3 way speaker and just make the tweeter non-functional. It's not ideal, but definitely save me a lot of money.

umm are they dumb?
you can just buy midbass drivers instead of wasting money on the 2 pr 3 way speakers.. besides i don't like them cuz the tweets get in the way of the woofer

I just installed the Kenwood KFC-P603 component set in my '99 Integra. It is a definite improvement over the stock speakers, but I wouldn't call what I'm getting "decent bass".

Maybe it's just me, but after having a system with sub bass, the mid bass you get from midwoofers just doesn't cut it. My system definitely has more bass than it did with the stock speakers, but it's just not enough for me.

If you want decent bass, but you are not willing to install subs, then you better get some power to whatever you put in the doors, otherwise you can't hope to get much of any bass out of them.

As for the guys telling you to go with 2- or 3-way speakers, don't do it. Your doors are designed for components, so there is no reason not to get them. Besides, the worst part of the install was the fact that I had to modify the stock spacers/brackets to allow more mounting depth. I suspect that the 2- or 3-way speakers they'd sell you would require this as well.

You can probably hook up a set of Infinity Kappa midrange drivers to the existing stock tweeter. You'll have to cut out the back of the speaker baffle. Before I had my subs put in, I had the Kappa components up front and a set of 3way 6.5's in the back. They actually put out a good amount of midbass.
